OUR STORY

Make an impression is a culmination of 15 years of learning new skills. Our aim is to have the ideal balance of work and family life at the same time as providing a source of income that can give my family what they need to be happy and enjoy life.

"In 2004 my parents had given us a gorgeous hand and foot impression of our first little boy as a present which had been made by a lady locally, however after the birth of our second son the lady had moved away. I went to great lengths to try and find someone else to capture those precious first few months".

Then in 2007 Sarah joined a business specialising in producing these children's keepsakes. This provided more flexibility with family life and allowed Sarah to revisit her creative tendencies. However in early 2009 the company changed the way it operated and Sarah decided to branch out on her own and "Make an Impression" was born.

Sarah lives in North Yorkshire with husband Colin and three children Edward, William, George and Piper, their Black Labrador

"I started out training to be a ballet dancer until the age of 18 when an injury forced me to rethink my future. I then went on to university to study textile design in Edinburgh for 4 years".

After leaving university I worked as a graduate trainee buyer for a ladies retailer in Scotland looking after purchasing for both the lingerie and nightwear departments. Then in 2002 we moved here to be closer to family and we started a family business alongside my parents".

Make an Impression creates ceramic clay hand and feet impressions, raised plaster hand and feet impressions, 3D castings and silver fingerprint jewellery. The impressions take mere moments to do and Sarah, will do her utmost to fit in with your schedule. She works in tandem with several businesses in North Yorkshire and will take appointments to visit her at home, near Pickering. For a small fee, Sarah can come to your home or supply postal kits for jewellery orders. The mould is taken, the specialist and highly skilled finishing and framing is hand crafted and you will have an extraordinary and exquisite keepsake and souvenir forever.

"Over the next 5 years I hope to expand the range of products that I offer customers by developing new techniques and using new materials. I would like to see the 'Make an Impression' brand widely recognised for its quality, variety of the products and also for the personal service that I endeavour to give. My aim is to have the ideal balance of work and family life at the same time as providing a source of income that can give my family what they need to be happy and enjoy life!"
